Bringing in the New Year

I had told myself that I wouldn't start another day, let alone another new year without God first thing. So I had a long conversation with Him this morning.

God has promised in His Word that He alone has the plans to help and prosper; and not to harm us [Jeremiah 29:11]. So, why wouldn't I want to talk with Him and ask of His blessing for my family before my feet hit the floor, this new day, this new year?

I have to be honest and say that I'm glad for a fresh start, a second chance to have a "do-over" for a better year. My God is the God of second chances and I'm so thankful for that.

Why is it that January 1st is not only the beginning of a New Year, but considered the beginning of a fresh start? Most people can perceive it as just another day... I know I'm getting that way when it comes to birthdays. But it's a new year, a new beginning to wipe the slate clean, to not look back in the "rear view mirror", but also a wonderful chance to move forward.

I'm excited to think of the plans the Lord may have in store for my family, our church, our ministry, my husband's business, our health, our girls, our friends and loved ones, even our finances. God does has a plan - and it's a good one - for every aspect of our lives, yours and mine.

So... here's to a New Year, a New Beginning and a much better life in Him.
